Hair Loss – PRP Hair Treatment and Restoration

What is PRP?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a popular new and non-surgical method of hair loss treatment and hair restoration for women and men. PRP is a great solution for both men and women, especially when hair transplant surgery is not an option. PRP injections can stimulate new hair growth in men who suffer from androgenetic alopecia (known as male pattern baldness) and women who suffer from female pattern baldness.

The procedure requires a few injections into the thinning scalp area. A topical anesthetic is applied to the scalp, an hour before the procedure, to minimize any minor discomfort from the injections. The procedure takes approximately 30 minutes from the time your blood is drawn until the PRP is injected into your scalp.

PRP is a modern procedure used elsewhere as a method of healing injuries. It is often used as a cosmetic facial treatment often called the “Vampire Facelift” and the male hair procedure referred to as “PRP Vampire Hair Raising.”

PRP is that this is a “natural” way to restore hair. Most medications used to restore hair, such as Propecia, have significant side effects in men (such as erectile dysfunction). These medications are also contraindicated in women, especially those of child-bearing age. PRP treatments can be used in tandem with hair transplantation to help accelerate hair growth. PRP treatments should be performed on average, every 4 to 6 weeks for three sessions. Further treatments will be evaluated by the end of the fourth month.

Advantages of PRP Therapy against hair loss are:

  • Simple, non surgical procedure
  • Multiple Injections: procedure lasting approximately 60 minutes
  • Safe and reliable results
  • Very quick recovery period
  • Beautiful and above all extremely natural looking end results

What does Plasma Hair Treatment / PRP Cost?

Costs vary based on your needs, but on average, PRP procedures are once a month, for three sessions and the price depends on the amount of treatment area needed to be injected during each session.

Are there any potential side effects to PRP Hair Treatment?

PRP has been used to restore skin and tissue in patients for several years, however the hair restoration procedure is relatively new. There are several published studies that have reported improvement in hair growth, and recovery from all procedures to be easily tolerated. All previous medical history should be discussed before starting the treatment as well as a full assessment of the nature of the hair loss.
